One other thing, when loading the drivers during XP instal at F6 prompt, XP suggested it had a better driver. I can get to the prompt indicating no previous version of windows asta found rather than no drive found. Yes, all references will be to GB drive but also apply to both drives. The edluxe maker should also have a utility to wipe the drive as well and you can load this onto the Boot CD or just make a Floppy and change Floppies once you have the SATA drivers installed. Before you can use Windows Updatesthe system must already have Service Pack 3 installed.
Make Google your friend too. Did this to test if SATA drive might be causing this.

I now have a replacement mobo and new watt PSU. Now Windows 7 Ultimate is running and much smoother and faster than XP.
